An electronic siren greatly differs from a mechanical siren, especially when considering outdoor warning systems such as outdoor warning sirens or Giant voice systems. Unlike mechanical sirens that rely on a chopper driven through mechanical means, electronic sirens utilize a tone generator or stored preset sounds within a controller, combined with an amplifier. This innovative setup enables the electronic siren to transmit various tones and signals through the siren itself.

Operating through one or multiple high-powered speaker compression drivers, the electronic siren emits tones at a significantly amplified volume, corresponding to the tones produced by the controller. While some electronic sirens emulate the sound of traditional mechanical sirens, others possess distinctive tones. Notably emerging in the 1980s, these sirens rapidly gained prominence and have since remained a preferred choice.

The standout advantage of electronic sirens lies in their capability to broadcast voice messages and other recordings, a feature that mechanical sirens, like outdoor warning systems or outdoor warning sirens, cannot replicate effectively.

Controllers for electronic sirens come in two main types: Analog and digital. Analog controllers, which are the older variant, employ a tone generator to produce the sound sent to the amplifiers. This results in a siren sound that closely resembles traditional sirens and offers adjustability. While they were prevalent in the 1980s, their usage has declined over time.

On the other hand, digital controllers use pre-recorded audio stored within chips on the control board, which are then transmitted to the amplifiers. These digital controllers allow for the incorporation of additional audio by utilizing different chips. Owing to their simplicity and ease of construction and maintenance, digital controllers have become the standard choice in the present era.

In the realm of outdoor warning systems, such as outdoor warning sirens or Giant voice systems, electronic sirens stand as a modern marvel, offering versatile and effective audio signaling solutions that have revolutionized the landscape of public safety communication.
